Mariela Panero

Mariela Panero

Mariela Panero started out as a dancer, gaining a BA (Hons) degree in Dance from the Escuela Nacional de Danzas “Maria Ruanova” in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1998 she left her native Argentina and came to London where she studied Pilates with Anne-Marie Zulkahari, qualifying as a Pilates Foundation accredited teacher in 2001. Mariela has worked at the Pilates Yoga Movement Studio since 2001 and been teaching on its teacher training course since 2007. She is also a qualified practitioner of Traditional Yoga Thai Massage and since 2011 has been studying “Antigymnastique”, a French technique, created by Therese Bertherat writer of the bestselling book, The Body Has Its Reasons.

Mariela’s teaching style is underpinned by the belief that the body must be seen as a whole, not as a set of separate mechanical parts. Her approach combines detailed anatomical knowledge and Pilates expertise with an intuitive understanding of how the body connects and flows. Mariela works with breath and highly-tailored incremental exercise to help her clients achieve self-awareness and the flexibility and strength they need.
